Summer Program, Week Five: The World

Essential questions during Week Five:
How are families/communities/parts of the world the same? How are they different?

This week, St. Ann's students broadened their studies to look beyond family and community to the larger world.
They read powerful books about life in different parts of the world including the book Ruby's Wish. In this book, all Ruby wanted was to go to school, but she lived in China during a time when girls didn't go to school. The students learned about Latin cultures on their field trip to the Global Education Center through dance and an interactive museum. Students worked hard on finishing their big project, the student newspaper, and practiced their singing, dancing, and poetry for the finale showcase on Thursday, July 14th.

At Ross, our rising Kindergarten and 1st grade students focused on Sports and enjoyed designing jerseys, playing t-ball, and learning how to be a part of a team.  They enjoyed their books Froggy Plays T-Ball and Froggy Plays Soccer.

Week Five was the last week for the small reading groups. During Week Six (our final week) students will be assessed to see how much they have progressed during the ENHE summer program.
